Scabbard, Piobbico necropolis (PU)

Replica of a 4th-3rd century BC scabbard

Two-plate iron scabbard, with a bell-shaped mouth and a suspension loop, fixed by small rivets in the centre. The removable chape is also made of iron. The decoration on the mouth, depicting two animals with gaping jaws shaped like hooked beaks, was taken from another scabbard from the same necropolis, of which only fragments have survived.
