Grater from grave 100, Campovalano (TE)

Bronze grater, hand-embossed and pierced, with a quadrangular point.
Measurements taken from the exhibition catalogue “Piceni popoli d’Europa; De Luca Editori d’Arte; 2000”.
In burials it is generally associated with wine drinking; Homer (Iliad XI, 638) mentions its use for grating cheese to be added to a wine-based drink drunk by the Homeric heroes (kykèion).
